Every year the Fleet Pond society hold a photographic competition, the theme/brief of 2017 being “Beauty and the not so…..” I entered a couple of photos just before the January deadline as Fleet Pond is my favourite local place to photograph. I attended the societies AGM on Saturday evening where I was thrilled to find one of my photos had won and was presented with the Photographer of the Year 2017 Rose Bowl to keep for 12 months and winners certificate, which I am immensely proud of!
Fleet Pond is only a short drive for me, nice and easy to reach early in the mornings for a Sunrise, Forest walks, open area’s and the pond in a short area. My Wife runs and also walks the dogs there. It’s a beautiful well-managed place to visit and it’s a credit to the area. At the AGM I got to see just how much hard work and money is invested in keeping the pond in such great condition by a small but dedicated group of volunteers.
My winning photo was taken with my Panasonic Lumix G80 in April 2017 around 08:30 just as a storm cloud was closing in, I thought the contrast of the golden reeds, pond, forest and gathering grey clouds made a great contrast. I didn’t quite make it back to the car before the rain! The Beauty and the not so…

Fleet Pond Photographic competition winner 2017
I’m already looking for more hours around Fleet Pond looking for my 2018 entry.
