All the way back in September I received an email from the National Trust that blew my mind. I’d submitted a photograph of Frencham Little pond as part of the National Trust 2018 handbook cover / membership card completion and they had emailed me to say my photo had been shortlisted in the membership card category. They asked for some more details about the photograph, a copy of the original unedited version and asked me not share the photo anywhere if possible.
To say I was chuffed to bits would be an understatement, the first national photography completion I’d entered and I had been shortlisted against 7000 other entries was a huge achievement for me. I view myself as fairly inexperienced amateur photographer, still learning and trying to find my own style.
Fast forward to a few months later and the winners were recently announced, sadly my name wasn’t on the winners list. However I have no sense of disappointment, I’m immensely proud that I made the shortlist at all. Well worth the 4am start that wonderful summers morning.
Finally, I would say the winning photograph that will adorn the NT 2018 membership card is a worthy winner, I’m pleased to be counted alongside such a beautiful photo.
